Network of Researchers Acting for the Environment
WHY WAS RIAMA CREATED?
RIAMA arises in light of two important problems:
- The lack of guidance that exists nowadays for young people who are passionate about the study and protection of the environment, specially when finishing their university degree/education.
- The environmental crisis that we are living, where we need to act and find solutions based on knowledge.
RIAMA aims to mitigate these problems through cooperation. We want to create a symbiosis between people that benefits the actors involved and the biodiversity.
HOW DOES RIAMA WORK?
- All of the researchers involved as well as the RIAMA team participate altruistically in the network in order to promote the growth of science and knowledge.
- RIAMA works as a meeting point between researchers. Once the connection is made the outcomes that come from it (projects, potential job opportunities, publications, etc.) are subject to the researchers involved.
There are two types of researchers in RIAMA:
Expert Researcher (ER)
Specialists in a particular environmental field who are open and prepared to provide support opportunities to Collaborator Researchers through:
- Participation in a project.
- Assistance developing an idea or project of the Collaborator Researcher.
- Guidance in their area of expertise.
Collaborator Researcher (CR)
People who want to progress in the field of environmental sciences. You can be a CR if you are looking for an ER to:
- Participate in their project.
- Assist you to develop an idea or project of your own.
- Guide you in a specific field of research.
BEING PART OF RIAMA'S NETWORK; WHAT DOES IT IMPLY?
- Being able to transmit, in a personal and direct way, the knowledge acquired throughout their professional career.
- Counting with the help of researchers to develop research projects.
- Being able to find colleagues with shared interests to create new projects.
- Being part of RIAMA´s internal network of ERs, with the opportunity of networking and collaborating with other researchers.
- Having the opportunity of growing in the research field.
- Being able to expand their contacts and participate in projects.
- Having an organization that supports and guides them.
- Counting with the help of a professional.
- Increasing our potential of connecting researchers with similar interests.
- Improving our prospects of obtaining new projects and grant opportunities that boost the growth of the association and its members.
- Contributing to the production of environmental scientific literature, offering the network members the opportunity of listing RIAMA as their affiliation in research articles and publications.
